Leading Lean Kaizen Events
Transform Lean knowledge into applied skills, and achieve rapid results

What you will learn

Overview

Sometimes it’s best for teams to tackle performance issues and make improvements over longer periods of time while they’re also engaged in their ongoing job responsibilities. Other times teams want to bring more concentrated, full-time effort to making needed changes in a hands-on, workshop environment.

Kaizen events have long been known as a vehicle for doing the latter—getting teams together in one place for about a week to fully concentrate on mapping their process, identifying inefficiencies and making changes to the process so it yields better, faster and more consistent outputs.

To get a sense of the people interaction, all the maps and tools… and how visual the process really is, you cannot get it until you experience it.

Dan Hayes - Performance Excellence Leader, Avis Budget Group

BMGI’s Leading Lean Kaizen Events workshop gives you all the skills and tools you need for making rapid improvements many times over in different parts of your organization; the course prepares participants to become Lean Kaizen leaders across a spectrum of circumstances and types of processes (service, manufacturing, transactional).

Following a proven structure and method, participants in this course will learn how to form a Kaizen team, motivate team members according to their different personality types, choose and apply the right Lean tools at the right times and work effectively with important stakeholders who aren’t part of the core team.

In essence, this course joins hard Lean skills and tools with the vital aspects of change management—so that graduates can ensure good results and ROI on the Kaizen events they lead while making the experience fun and positive for all involved.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

How you will learn

Classroom

The learning mode of this workshop is to simulate workplace conditions so closely—and so repeatedly—that participants feel they’ve conducted many real Kaizen events by the time the workshop is done.

The future Kaizen event leaders utilize best-in-class simulation aides that perfectly mirror the realities experienced in various workplace processes. Working in teams, they must collect data, develop metrics, create value stream maps, engage in brainstorming, manage personalities and, ultimately, implement solutions that improve processes—all in a very active, dynamic, engaging environment.

This learning approach allows BMGI instructors to expertly create the conditions, complexities and difficulties Kaizen leaders are sure to face when they return to their organizations. As always, instructors train and prepare participants from their deep base of applied industry experience.
