The Problem
When organizations embark on an initiative, they tend to act quickly. After all, you want to get the ball rolling right away and see progress. But what if the results aren’t really the ones that matter to management? Or, worse, the effort does more harm than good?
Initiating, sustaining and banking clear results from an improvement program requires foresight, not just the will to succeed. The biggest mistake companies make when initiating a performance excellence initiative is not fully understanding that there’s more to success than meets the eye—and that how you approach your initiative matters.
The Solution
When you take the time and effort to design your program at the front end, you not only get quick-wins and drum up support, you also build a solid foundation on which to grow a sustainable effort. BMGI will work with you to design and manage a performance improvement program that aligns with your organization’s goals, delivers results quickly and keeps returning results, many times over.
Each of our clients is unique in their culture and goals, and each faces different industry challenges. We take your uniqueness as our starting point. A dedicated and experienced expert works as your personal coach in configuring the details of program design and implementation. This person stays with you throughout your initiative as the program develops and evolves. As partners, you both have a vested interest in success. Through this team approach, we begin with planning, move through an initial piloting phase, then expand the effort to a more full-blown status. Some of the steps include:
- Initial needs assessment, deployment planning and solution development: We will match your needs with any off-the-shelf BMGI training, eLearning and technology solutions. We’ll also work hand-in-hand with you to customize new solutions to meet any of your unique needs.
- Team development: Not only do we match the right people from your organization with the right people from ours, we also help in assembling implementation teams within your management structure–from the executive level to division level to process level.
- Initiative rollout plan: We’ll work with you to develop a plan that covers all major phases, significant milestones and detailed actions required to be successful.
- Prepping, partnering and managing critical relationships and systems: We’ll work with you to integrate with areas of the organization that are important to supporting your program and ensuring its success, such as communications, IT, human resources and finance.
In addition, to support larger initiatives, we also provide deployment assessments and a robust technology solution, the BMGI eHandbook.
Deployment Assessments
If you already have a performance improvement program in place, then we can work with you to evaluate your progress, identify shortfalls and uncover opportunities for program improvement. The deployment assessment evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of your current program and is designed to uncover new opportunities to grow your capabilities. We work closely with your staff to analyze your particular initiative in 12 key areas: strategy, focus, methods, project selection, engagement, project execution, process management, knowledge transfer, people and leadership development, communication, culture and metrics.
The deployment assessment helps ensure your program goals are aligned with business goals and that you’re using the best problem solving approach for the types of problems you’re seeing. After the deployment assessment, you’ll know your program’s current state and what areas need improvement. You’ll also have a roadmap for how to get there in the next year.
