Neil Maslen leverages more than 15 years of executive-level engagement in managing companies. A proven business leader who has helped organizations to develop and realize sustainable solutions, he’s worked with a wide variety of organizations, including those in the mining, resources, chemical, petro chemical, engineering and financial sectors. As a passionate and experienced problem solver, Neil has an uncanny knack of slicing through the “noise” to find a workable, practical solution. He’s a trusted advisor to business leaders when they need to know how to release organizational value through people, process and structure. He expertly helps clients determine the right organizational direction, and then develop a clear and simple plan to make this direction everyone’s daily function.

Background: 

With hands-on experience as a CEO, director, mining engineer and management consultant, Neil brings a wide range of experience across many industries and organizations. He’s a believer in the principle that “what gets measured gets done” and has assisted many organizations in understanding how to find the right metrics to drive results. He's led multiple projects related to process improvements, and reengineering and restructuring that have saved millions annually. He was also the consulting project director of the largest shared services implementation in South Africa to date, involving both transactional and Centres of Expertise across 12 different functional areas.

Neil is often sought after to be an expert commentator on radio and television on topics relating to the macro business environment. In addition, he has been extensively quoted within leading print media and has published several articles.

Outside of the business environment, Neil has been privileged to work within the Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children and currently serves as a member of the board of directors. He also lectured part time from 1995 to 2000 in the Mining Engineering Department at Wits University, and was appointed as an external examiner.

Education / Certifications: 

Neil received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). He graduated top of his class and achieved numerous awards, including the Herbert Simon Memorial Prize and a merit scholarship for Academic Excellence. He’s also a qualified helicopter pilot.
