David Silverstein is the CEO of BMGI, which he founded in 1999. Since then, he has grown BMGI into an internationally recognized and highly respected firm that’s served hundreds of client companies through its network of offices in 13 countries. As a highly regarded public speaker and author, David shares his experience and ideas around the world on a regular basis, having presented on the same stage with such notables as Jack Welch and Steven Covey.
As CEO, David drives BMGI’s strategic direction with a focus on continuously improving existing offerings. Recently, he’s turned his attention to developing frameworks and approaches for solving critical problems along the full spectrum of business excellence: from strategy formulation to product and process innovation to unique approaches for solving operational, quality and process problems.
In his book, Insourcing Innovation, David demonstrates how companies can develop innovation as a core competency to maintain a competitive edge. Silverstein is also co-author of The Innovator’s Toolkit: 50+ Techniques for Predictable and Sustainable Organic Growth (John Wiley & Sons). This bestselling book provides business leaders with a step-by-step approach, and all the needed tools, for effectively developing and managing their innovation pipelines.
Earlier in his career, as a Lean Six Sigma deployment leader and master black belt, David coached change leaders and mentored problem solving experts as they implemented broad based business improvement initiatives. He began practicing Lean Six Sigma and other methods at Seagate Technology, where he implemented operational improvements across the company’s 66,000-person Asia Pacific operations.
Prior to this David was operations manager for Bayside Controls, and he spent seven years as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s elite nuclear submarine force, where he was recognized for his superior leadership and results in improving operations.
David received an MBA from George Washington University, and holds a dual B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from Ithaca College. His submarine-related Naval education included graduate-level training in nuclear, chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering. David has authored two books, and has written numerous articles for such publications as Inc. Magazine, Forbes.com, American Executive, Worth Magazine and BP Trends.
