Overview
Approximately 11,000+ servers of a large bank are backed up daily in four major regions around the globe. With this load, service levels had degraded to 85-percent success, resulting in customer dissatisfaction and regulatory issues related to data retention. The project team measured system utilization, established KPIs and conducted root-cause analysis to identify infrastructure inefficiencies and isolate long and slow-running clients. As a result the team improved back-up success rate from 85 percent to 94 percent, providing $2 million in cost avoidance.
