One of BMGI’s most prolific principals, Mark is dynamic, fun and effective as he galvanizes executives for change, uncovers ripe improvement opportunities, teaches practitioners and coaches teams through the details of project implementation.
Clients are hard-pressed to attend Mark’s sessions and not leave prepared to apply what they came to learn. He’s got an uncanny way of working with groups and individuals to equip them based on their unique needs and objectives.
Why is Mark so talented in helping others succeed? Maybe it’s because his own accomplishments haven’t come easy, and he’s acquired a lot of knowledge about personal development as he’s pushed himself through tough milestones.
One of three children of a retired single parent, Mark had no easy path to college. So he joined the Marine Corps, then eventually earned an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned his undergraduate degree.
Then he completed his master's degree while working in a factory pursuing his black belt certification. He and his wife also had their first child during this time.
“It was a crazy period,” Mark remembers.
As with anything in life, the stretch is usually worth it—like when Mark worked one summer as a deck hand on a sailboat as it made its way from the Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda to Nova Scotia then back to the mid-Atlantic coast. Like when he hiked the Grand Canyon from rim to Colorado river and back.
When Mark isn’t working, he avidly reads all kinds of books, is actively involved with the Boy Scouts and leads a group bible study at his church.
Few have traveled and lived in as many places as Mark has—21 cities to be exact, all across the Southern U.S., and various locations in Germany and Japan. Currently Mark lives in Tampa, Fla., with his wife, two children and two dogs.
With more than 13 years of experience across many industries, Mark is highly proficient in program deployment leadership, curriculum development and delivery, project replication, change management and strategy execution. Mark has a master's in operations management from Kettering University, and a bachelor's in English from the U.S. Naval Academy. He's a certified Lean Six Sigma master black belt.
