David Silverstein is the CEO of Breakthrough Management Group International, which he founded in 1999. Since then, he has grown the company to an international powerhouse specializing in Total Performance Excellence and Innovation. As CEO, David drives BMGI's strategic direction with a focus on continuously improving existing offerings while constantly searching for the next generation of business excellence.

As a highly regarded pubic speaker and author, David shares his vision around the globe where he has shared the stage with notable figures such as Jack Welch, Larry Bossidy, Jim McNerney and Steven Covey. More recently, he has turned his attention to innovation and business strategy and the identification of cutting-edge technology solutions. In his book, Insourcing Innovation, he demonstrates how companies can develop innovation as a core competency to maintain a competitive edge. Silverstein is also co-author of The Innovator's Toolkit: 50+Techniques for Predictable and Sustainable Organic Growth, released by John Wiley & Sons in October, 2008. This cutting-edge publication provides business leaders and performance-excellence practitioners with a step-by-step approach for developing innovative capability and putting new ideas into practice.

As a Master Black Belt and Six Sigma deployment leader, David's experience includes executive coaching and mentoring, as well as hands-on training and working directly with Six Sigma Black Belts and Champions to lead companies through the implementation of global Lean Six Sigma initiatives.

BACKGROUND

David began studying Six Sigma at Seagate Technology, a leading computer hard drive manufacturer. At Seagate, he was responsible for implementing Six Sigma across the company's Asia-Pacific manufacturing operations, where two-thirds of the 104,000 employees were located.

Before joining Seagate Technology, David served as Operations Manager for Bayside Controls, a small manufacturer based in New York. Prior to that, he spent seven years as an officer in the U.S. Navy's elite nuclear submarine force where he was recognized for his superior leadership and his efforts to improve operations. His naval education included graduate-level training in nuclear, chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering.

Dr. Phil Samuel is Chief Innovation Officer for Breakthrough Management Group International. An integral part of BMGI's management team since 2005, Phil brings more than a decade of experience to his role as CIO, helping clients insource creativity and increase organic growth potential. Phil's counsel is invaluable during the strategy deployment phase of any Lean Six Sigma, DFSS or Innovation initiative, and he has become a trusted advisor for executives in a variety of industries. In addition, Phil is a dynamic speaker and published author, whose most recent credits include the books, Design for Lean Six Sigma: A Holistic Approach to Design and Innovation and The Innovator's Toolkit: 50+ Techniques for Predictable and Sustainable Organic Growth.

With more than 20 years of technical and management experience related to engineering, manufacturing and service processes, Phil has led countless performance improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Six Sigma, Design for Lean Six Sigma, Innovation and change management. His extensive consulting background includes clients in aerospace, automotives, oil and gas, health care, retail, pharmaceutical and high tech, as well as regulatory agencies such as Environment Canada, the Alberta Research Council, and the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
